Lawrence's Group to China

Lawrence traveled to Beijing, China regularly for business. On this trip, he wanted to explore the major highlights beyond Beijing with a group of good friends. He ended up with a group of 16!

Itinerary Summary

Day 1 – Day 4, Beijing

3 nights in Beijing with a 1st class centrally located hotel (Sunworld Hotel near Tiananmen Square) and 3 full days of sightseeing including: Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, and walking and pedicab tour of the Hutongs. Special evenings with Beijing duck dinner and evening performance at Lao She Teahouse.

Day 5 - 6, Xian

2 days of sightseeing in Xian including the City Wall and Wild Goose Pagoda, museums and the Terra Cotta Warriors. Dumpling dinner (Xian’s signature dish) and the Tang Dynasty Show to round up a memorable day. Flight from Beijing to Xian is included.

Day 7 – 10, Yangzte River Cruise

Flight to Chongqing and a visit to the historical Dazu rock carvings, 1 night pre-cruise in Chongqing, with 3 nights on the mighty Yangzte River. On-shore excursions (Fengdu and Three Gorges Dam), activities on board which included all meals, lectures.

Day 11 – 12, Shanghai

Day 13 - Home!

 

Rates of $1820 per person based on double occupancy included:

4 nights in Beijing at Sunworld Hotel; 1 night in Xian at Aurum International Hotel; 1 night in Chongqing at Holiday Inn North and 3 nights in Shanghai at Ambassador Hotel.

Daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Cruise based on the MS President 6 or similar with balconies, with on-shore excursions.

Air fares from Beijing to Xian to Chongqing and from Yichang to Shanghai.

Tickets to Lao She Teahouse based on $56 seats (currently the best seats).

English speaking guide and private vehicle with driver exclusively for their group.

Airport departure taxes in China - estimated $50 per person.

Travel insurance with cancellation and medical evacuation coverage (highly recommended).

Tips to Guides – estimated at $3 to $4 per day, drivers at $2 to $2.50 per day.

Bell boys at $1 per bag, boat cruise at about $20 per cabin. (Guidelines also in cabins.)
