Day 01, Arrival into Pakse Airport

On arrival your English Speaking guide will meet you at the airport. Proceed for a short visit of Pakse town. On the confluence of the Mekong and the SedoneRiver, Pakse is the most important town in Southern Laos. It is the home to a very important Vietnamese community, colonial and Chinese buildings. It also has a huge local market and the hub to the prestigious pre-Angkorian temples complex of Wat Phou, the Bolaven Plateau and its coffee plantations and waterfalls as well the quiet and relaxing 4000 islands.

Day 02 + Day 03, Dong Dean – Khong Island

mekong-s-laosContinue by road to KhongIsland, the biggest island in south ;Laos, a gateway to the 4000 islands. Located in the southern tip of Laos and one of the jewels of the Mekong, the  4000 islands called “Siphandon” in Lao language is breathtakingly unique. Here, the Mekong stretches over 14km wide and has thousands of islands between those the river flows and runs between cascades and rapids.

2 days to relax and enjoy the MekongRiver.

Day 04, Khong Island – Wat Phou – Pakse

Transfer by road with your guide to Wat Phou. Recorded on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Wat Phou is a pre-Angkorian temples built upon three levels. The temple was the most important economic and political center in the region. The lower level is focused on the baray (water reservoir) and the promenade to join the second level with the galleries and the quadrangular pavilions. The upper level is the sanctuary itself. Return to Champassak to see samples of French colonial architecture.

Day 05, Pakse - Boloven - Pakse

twin-waterfalls-bolaven-peninsulaThis morning, transfer to Tad Yuang Tad Fane waterfalls located at the entrance of the Bolavens Plateau and Dong Hua Sao protected area. These impressive twin waterfalls thunders down a deep gorge through the dense jungle. Water levels can be dangerously high during the rainy season. The Bolaven Plateau is famous for its many tea and coffee plantations, managed by about 20,000 families scattered around 250 villages in this mountainous terrain. We will visit one of these plantations. The Plateau is also home to hill tribes such as Lavens.

Day 06, Pakse – Vientiane

Flight from Pakse to Vientiane is included.

Round trip transfers are included.

Day 07 + 08, Vientiane.

Free to explore on your own.

Day 09, Vientiane – Vang Vieng

After breakfast at the hotel, your driver will meet you for drive to Vang Vieng.Along the way if you wish; you can visit NamGumLake which is the largest lake in Laos. This artificial lake is created as part of the first hydroelectric dam. A lunch stop can be made at the lake (fresh grilled fish from the lake is a specialty). There is also an optional 2 hour cruise on this scenic lake. (Lunch and entrance fees are not included) This lake is surrounded by forests and islands, and you will see fishermen in their boats fishing with hoop nets, and fishing lines. After visiting the lake, continue to Vang Vieng. Arrival in Vang Vieng, transfer to your hotel for check-in and relax at your leisure.

Day 10, Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang

This part of the drive is spectacular as you are traveling through mountains of limestone. If you wish, explore the Chang cave, one of many caves found in the limestone karsts of Vang Vieng. (Entrance fees not included).On arrival Luang Prabang, check into your hotel.

Day 11, 12 and 13, Luang Prabang

Free to explore this amazing destination on own.

Day 14, Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves – Pakbeng

Transfer to boat pier for your cruise up the Mekong to Pakbeng. Breakfast is served while the boat is cruising to Pak Ou Village, at the mouth of the Nam Ou River, where you will visit the TamThing Caves of a Thousand Buddhas. Enjoy a buffet lunch on board then stop at a hill tribe village where you can watch the traditional process of Lao whiskey production. Arrive at Pak Beng around sunset and check into your hotel. Dinner on the terrace, overlooking the MekongRiver.

Day 15, Pakbeng – Houei Say

Full breakfast at the Lodge. At 7.00am board the boat for the second leg of the cruise. En route one stop is made to observe rural life along the Mekong and observe minorities. Buffet lunch on board and then continue to Houei Say where you will arrive before 5.00pm. On arrival the representative of the Arimid hotel will meet you and walk with you to the hotel. (about 700 feet)

Day 16, Houaysay – Muang Sing

Meet your driver after breakfast and depart Hoauy Xay to Muang Sing (about 6 hours drive). Check into hotel on arrival.

Day 17 + 18, Muang Sing

Day 19, Muang Sing - Luang Namtha

Depart for Luang Namtha. Free to explore on arrival.

Day 20, Luang Nam Tha – Vientiane and departure.

Free to explore after breakfast before transfer to airport and Vientiane and home
