Myanmar Highlights

This trip is ideal for the first time visitor to Myanmar as it covers the major highlights of Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan and InleLake.In this version, Bagan to Mandalay is overland. You can also do it by flight, or on a boat.

Day 1, Yangon

shwedagon-tops-sunset-sm-bill-fultonMeet your guide and transfer to the hotel. In the evening, visit the world’s famous ‘Shwedagon’ Pagoda. 

Day 2 + Day 3, Yangon to Bagan (3 days / 2 nights in Bagan)

Early morning flight to Yangon with round trip transfers. 2 days of sightseeing in fabulous Bagan with many of the 2200 temples and pagoda scattered in the Archeological Zone, including:

Shwezigon, Kyansitthar cave, Gubyaukgyi, Htilominlo, and Ananda temples.

Minanthu village area and visit some temples including Laymyetnar Kyaung, Payathonzu, Tayokepyay, Nandamanyar and Kyetkan meditation center.

Dhamayanzika pentagonal-shaped stupa with its interesting ghost story.

Evening visits include monuments around Myinkabar village to see Abyeyadanar with beautiful paintings, and Nanpaya, Manuhar temples.

Panoramic views of Bagan plains from Shwesandaw’s terraces.

Sulamani, and Dhamayangyi temples before watching the sunset view from Pyathatgyi temple top.

Day 4, Bagan drive to Mandalay via Mt. Popa visit on the way (Or by flight, or by boat)

mt-popa-m-ryanAfter breakfast depart for the 8 hours drive to Mandalay. On the way, visit Mt.Popa which is the center of the spirit worship in Myanmar. Along the way visit a small hut in which the villagers produce the palm sugar and toddy wine from the toddy palm juice collected from the trees. Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 5 & Day 6, Mandalay (3 days / 2 nights in Mandalay)

Highlights include:

Amarapura, visiting the Mahaghandayon monastery where, about one thousand monks study Buddhist Texts

A local silk weaving factory.

Inwa, visiting  the Bagayar Kyaung monastery built with over 200 teak posts and Meanu Okkyaung monastery built with bricks. (travel by ferry and horse carts)

Kaungmudaw pagoda and Sonn U Ponnyashin pagoda on the hill top in Sagaing.

U Bein bridge which is the longest teak bridge

Mingun village for its unfinished-pagoda; the famous Mingun Bell; and Mya Thein Tan Temple. (travel by boat across the Irrawady)

Mahamuni Pagoda; MandalayRoyalPalace; GoldenPalace monastery; and Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world’s biggest stone book.

Day 07 + 08, Inle Lake (3 days /2 nights at InleLake)

Round trip transfers flight from Mandalay to beautiful InleLake.

PindayaCaves with its limestone features and caves filled with 8000 ancient Buddha Images.

Full day boat tour on the lake including traditional five-day market at Nampan village; Inn Paw Khone village to see the silk weaving looms, blacksmith workshop and cheroot making house; Paung Daw Oo, the most revered pagoda in the region; Ngaphechaung, known as the jumping cat monastery; and Inn Dein village to see the beautiful ruined temples and pagodas.

Day 9, Morning visit on the lake and fly back to Yangon by afternoon flight

After breakfast at the hotel, visit to the remaining highlights on the lake before flying back to Yangon by afternoon flight. Transfer to the hotel and free leisure. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 10, Yangon

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your international flight.
